Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO share one unlock system — and it is the most bureaucratic in the industry. Every unlock runs through Xiaomi's official Mi Unlock tool: you bind your Mi account to the device, then wait out a mandatory holding period the tool enforces (historically anywhere from 72 hours to 30 days). No legitimate service can skip this wait — anyone promising an instant Xiaomi unlock is running a scam. HyperOS, which replaced MIUI, tightened things further with stricter account-age and eligibility rules, especially on China-region devices; global-region phones remain the straightforward case.

Once unlocked, rooting is standard Magisk, with one modern trap: most recent Xiaomi devices patch init_boot.img rather than boot.img, and flashing the wrong image is the top cause of bootloops we repair. Firmware must match your installed HyperOS build exactly. One warning worth repeating: never use Mi Flash's 'clean all and lock' option unless you are deliberately re-locking on full stock firmware — it has bricked more Xiaomi phones than anything else.
